About us

Ireland's first specialist healthy ageing programme for everyone over 50

Our Story

Anne Connolly our Founder has worked in the area of ‘smart ageing’ for almost 20 years. During this time, she identified that whilst we had specialists looking after the young and old, there was no speciality looking after the mid to late life people like herself. Her work and research showed the growing need for a preventative and holistic health programme for people over 50s.

The solution, a ‘one stop shop’ a single location with a specialist team that would look at all of the elements of our health and wellbeing and understand the interrelated dynamics of the health and wellbeing of the over 50’s. Thus emerged the germ of the idea for a new specialist healthy ageing programme.

Anne, determined to revolutionise the way we age, believes that while ageing is inevitable decline is not. Just like when she opened the first Well Woman Centre in the 1970’s and revolutionised women’s health in Ireland, today Anne, still in pioneering mode, is about to revolutionise the way we age.

With Co-Founder Jacquie Marsh on board, with her entrepreneurial background and deep understanding of consumer needs and of food/nutrition, they designed the new healthy ageing programme and successfully trialled it in 2023. Since then, they have conducted and commissioned research, enhanced the programme further, developed a strong digital platform, recruited a specialist clinical team and Advisory board, surrounding themselves with the leading experts in the field.

Meet the Founders

Anne Connolly

Anne Connolly

Anne has been a pioneer in the field of ‘smart ageing’ for nearly 20 years and SAVVY Health is her third in initiative in this space.

Her concept for SAVVY Health has been inspired by her experience with her first start-up back in 1978 – the ground-breaking Well Woman Centre. It was a radically innovative approach to women’s health which put choice and woman centeredness at the core of its clinical and non-clinical services. Despite quite a hostile reaction from conservative religious and other groups, the Well Woman thrived as women voted with their feet.

In between The Well Woman and SAVVY Health – Anne enjoyed (and that is the word) a varied career. This included being MD of Magill Magazine, founder and CEO of the Youth Exchange Bureau (now Leargas), completing an MBA which led directly to being Strategy Manager within Kingspan group (which is where she met Pat Mulvey, see below), completing a Newman Fellowship and then setting up her own strategy management consultancy. This last is where she met Jacquie.

Over the years she has been a director on a number of boards – ICC bank, An Post, SEAI, and more recently Redesdale. She is currently the Chair of Teac Damhsa, the international award winning contemporary dance theatre company led by its amazing choreographer, Michael Keegan Dolan. She is also a Trustee of the Royal Hospital Donnybrook.

Jacquie Marsh

Jacquie Marsh

Born in the heart of the countryside in County Meath, to a family of entrepreneurs where the kitchen table doubled as a board room, all her business life Jacquie has done what she loves most; leading organisations on a journey of sustainable growth, expansion and business excellence with a number of successful start-ups under her belt. After many years as owner of The Butler’s Pantry Jacquie is now working with a number of Food and Drink high potential start-up companies in both advisory and investment capacity.

Jacquie is a lifelong advocate for the Hippocrates principle of ‘let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food’ or indeed the more current expression of ‘you are what you eat’. It is her firm belief that Diet and Nutrition play a critical part in our overall health and wellbeing. And, the total health approach designed by SAVVY Health of which diet and nutrition is an integral part, is the best way to promote and enable healthy ageing.

As a member of the Irish Institute of Directors, Jacquie is an active Mentor and Advisor with Enterprise Ireland and acting Chairperson and Director to HPSU’s.

Jacquie lives with her family in Sandycove, a daily sea swimmer in the 40 foot, a lover of the arts and as a gentle nod to her early years in Co. Meath breeds Labrador dogs.
